The Setup for Triangle Rasterization

چکیده
Graphics performance is increased through the development of various hardware-supported graphics architectures. The majority of these architectures include a rasterizer to which the 3D vertex coordinates in image space and associated color values are sent. For rasterization it is common to use triangles or triangle strips as basic drawing primitives. The rasterizer interpolates the depth and color values for all the pixels bounded by the edges which define the triangles. Triangles are planar shapes and this property suggests the use of constant increments to linearly interpolate the color and depth along the scanlines. Traditional shaded triangle scan conversion is typically performed by a pipeline of an edge-walking phase followed by the span interpolation. During edge interpolation, a triangle is scanned horizontaly from top to bottom, delivering the boundaries of the triangle, the starting and ending values of RGBα and Z for Abstract

Conservative and Tiled Rasterization Using a Modified Triangle Set-Up
Several algorithms that use graphics hardware to accelerate processing require conservative rasterization in order to function correctly. Conservative rasterization stands for either overestimating or underestimating the size of the triangles. Overestimation is carried out by including all pixels that are at least partially overlapped by the triangle, whereas underestimation includes only the p...
متن کامل3D rasterization: a bridge between rasterization and ray casting
Ray tracing and rasterization have long been considered as two fundamentally different approaches to rendering images of 3D scenes, although they compute the same results for primary rays. Rasterization projects every triangle onto the image plane and enumerates all covered pixels in 2D, while ray tracing operates in 3D by generating rays through every pixel and then finding the closest interse...
متن کامل3D Rasterization – Unifying Rasterization and Ray Casting
Ray tracing and rasterization have long been considered as two very different approaches to rendering images of 3D scenes that – while computing the same results for primary rays – lie at opposite ends of a spectrum. While rasterization first projects every triangle onto the image plane and enumerates all covered pixels in 2D, ray tracing operates in 3D by generating rays through every pixel an...

In this paper, we designed 3D graphics hardware with rasterizer having texture and slim-shader for the efficient 3D graphics accelerator. The rasterizer consists of vertical shader and triangle set-up with AAL slim-shader. We developed all modules (vertex shader, pixel shader, slim shader, clipping engine, triangle setup engine and raster operator) of 3D pipeline on FPGA using RTL design. It is...
متن کاملEfficient Depth of Field Rasterization Using a Tile Test Based on Half-Space Culling
For depth of field rasterization, it is often desired to have an efficient tile versus triangle test, which can conservatively compute which samples on the lens that need to execute the sample-in-triangle test. We present a novel test for this, which is optimal in the sense that the region on the lens cannot be further reduced. Our test is based on removing half-space regions of the (u,v)-space...
